NY charter school throws foster kids a safety net (AP)

The school is trying to chart a course for others nationwide with a program designed to give foster children better odds at a good future. The school is sponsored by a citywide private child welfare agency, the New York Foundling. Foundling Executive Director Bill Baccaglini says the Foundling’s Bronx Community Services shares the building with the school. Thus, there are always more than 200 counselors on call to help students individually.
