Here's How Bad the Job Market Is If You Don't Go to CollegeA new Georgetown University report shows that out of the 11.6 million jobs created after the Great Recession, 11.5 million went to applicants who had at least some college education on their résumés. Of these jobs, the bulk—8.4 million—went to Americans with bachelor's degrees or higher—proof that earning a college diploma is worth the time and expense. People with some college education or an associate's degree gained more than 3 million jobs, while post–Great Recession employment of workers with high school diplomas or less only grew by 80,000 jobs.

School pupils walk home from Kubatana Primary school in Epworth near HarareBy MacDonald Dzirutwe HARARE (Reuters) - Teachers, doctors and nurses in Zimbabwe began a strike over unpaid salaries on Tuesday, a day after police used force against protesting taxi drivers in the capital, Harare, as the country's economy deteriorates. Zimbabwe is battling its worst drought in a quarter of a century, while the economy is beset by cash shortages, prompting small, spontaneous protests over the past month. President Robert Mugabe has used the police to keep a lid on the protests, but Amnesty International said their response on Monday amounted to a violation of Zimbabweans' human rights.

School Discipline Policies Force LGBT Kids out of the ClassroomPunished for holding hands with a boyfriend or girlfriend, for wearing non-gender-conforming clothing to class or prom, or for defending themselves against verbal harassment and physical assault—those are just some of the discriminatory incidents LGBT students experience in U.S. public schools. According to a new report from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, these unfair school disciplinary policies are pushing LGBT students out of the classroom and into the criminal justice system. The report, released last week, found that nearly 36 percent of LGBT students had received detention, 15.1 percent of LGBT students had been suspended from school, and 1.3 percent of LGBTQ students had been expelled, often for infractions related to identity or orientation.
