JPMorgan Chase Donates $1.5 Million to Detroit Community Hub Project Posted: 30 Apr 2013 01:37 PM PDT Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder was in attendance on Monday as the Detroit Public Schools (DPS) announced that three of its schools will be the beneficiaries of a $1.5 million grant by JPMorgan Chase. The grant will be given specifically to the nonprofit organization Southwest Solutions, to be used for different projects aimed at jump-starting the "community hubs" initiative that the DPS launched earlier this month, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The online survey of 1,050 workers who finished school in the past two years and 1,010 who will receive their degree in 2013 also found that many graduates, some heavily in debt because of the cost of their education, say they are in jobs that do not require a college degree. Thirty-four percent said they had student loans of $30,000 or less, while 17 percent owed between $30,000 to $50,000. ...
