DoJ probes Universal Technical's compensation practices Posted: 23 Jul 2012 07:19 AM PDT (Reuters) - For-profit college Universal Technical Institute Inc said it is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice after a former employee alleged the company had violated compensation laws. The company said a former employee alleged that Universal Technical Institute's compensation of its enrollment counselors violated the incentive compensation ban of the Higher Education Act. A federal law prohibits colleges from compensating employees based on the number of students they enroll. ... |
5 Smart Credit Moves for College Students Posted: 23 Jul 2012 07:05 AM PDT Years ago, when I first started college, I signed up for a Citi credit card because it offered 1 percent rewards, no annual fee, and a few other small perks I never used and can't even remember. I was a freshman in college and I foolishly signed up at a table outside my student union. I was fortunate in that I was able to get the card and start building my credit history as early as possible, when I was 18, and that it wasn't an identity theft scam! Years later, looking back, I realized how careless I was even though everything turned out fine. |
