"No non-Trump-related political messaging is permitted inside the venue. We do our best to ensure this rule is fully enforced," Michael Glassner, then-chief operating officer of Trump 2020, told The Daily Beast at the time, though making sure not to mention the term "QAnon."Late last year, when QAnon was rapidly becoming a recurring nuisance for the president's team, one senior Trump campaign official said that the standard operating procedure among staff had been to "ignore them" and not "make a big deal out of" it, largely in the hopes of avoiding "pissing off the crazy" people and depriving them of further media coverage or attention.On Wednesday, though, Trump heralded one of their own as a rising star in the Republican Party.Still, not every heavy-hitter or fan favorite in the president's orbit is sold on Q. | Trump Says He’s Blocking Increased Post Office Funding to Stop Universal Mail-In Voting Posted: 13 Aug 2020 09:28 AM PDT  President Trump said Thursday that one of the sticking points holding up a congressional deal for another round of coronavirus relief is funding for the Post Office, which he said Democrats want in order to bolster universal mail-in voting."They want $3.5 billion dollars for something that will turn out to be fraudulent, election money basically … the mail-in votes, okay, universal mail-in ballots," Trump said on Fox Business Thursday morning.Democratic lawmakers also want $25 billion in funding for the Post Office, Trump said."Now, they need that money in order to have the Post Office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots," the president continued. "Those are just two items, but if they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal mail-in voting, because they're not equipped to have it."Asked whether the Post Office funding is the issue holding up a congressional deal on coronavirus relief, Trump responded, "No, that's only one aspect of it."Democrats have pushed to make mail-in voting universally available to protect voters from possible exposure to the coronavirus at polling places. Republicans meanwhile have cautioned that large numbers of voters using absentee ballots could result in ballots being lost in the mail, sent to those who have died, or sent to voters who no longer live at a particular address. An additional concern is the amount of time it would take to count all the mail-in ballots."The Post Office is going to have to go to town to get these ridiculous ballots in," Trump said. "You know, there's nothing wrong with getting out and voting. You get out and vote. They voted during World War I and World War II."Trump also said states should require voters to produce identification before they can cast their vote, "because the Democrats scam the system." Democrats in Congress are fighting voter ID laws "tooth-and-nail because they cheat," he said.Despite warning about widespread voting by absentee ballot as a potential breeding ground for election fraud, Trump last week encouraged Florida residents to vote by mail, assuring that the state's election system is "safe and secure."Meanwhile, the Trump administration has mounted a slew of legal challenges against attempts by Democrats to expand voting by mail, including suing Nevada over its plan to send ballots to all active voters."It's being challenged at many different levels. Emilio Lozoya, the former head of the state energy firm Pemex, accused Mr Peña Nieto on Tuesday of ordering him to funnel more than $4m (£2.5m) in bribes from Brazil's construction giant Odebrecht into the 2012 presidential election campaign. In a second allegation, Mr Lozoya said that once in power Mr Peña Nieto used a similar amount to bribe lawmakers to ensure the passage of a crucial energy reform bill through parliament. Mr Lozoya, who led Pemex from 2012 to 2016 and was a close aide to Mr Peña Nieto, has been charged with money laundering, bribery and racketeering in two cases. He has denied wrongdoing, as has Mr Peña Nieto. His offer of evidence allegedly involving Mr Peña Nieto is part of a negotiation to secure a plea bargain, according to reports. Mr Lozoya's allegations are part of the highest-profile corruption case since 1983, when another former Pemex chief was jailed for corruption. If Mr Peña Nieto were indicted, he would be the first president to face corruption charges in Mexico's modern history. Last year, a witness testifying at a US trial of Mexico's drug cartel kingpin Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán said Mr Peña Nieto had accepted a $100m (£77m) bribe from the mobster. The ex-president also made no comments on that allegation, but he has previously rejected allegations of corruption. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, Mexico's President, on Wednesday said Mr Peña Nieto should have to testify and called on Mr Lozoya to come forward with evidence to back his accusations.
