Ed Dept. chides Hawaii for use of grant dollars (AP) Posted: 21 Dec 2011 09:09 PM PST AP - An Education Department official on Wednesday admonished Hawaii for its "unsatisfactory" performance under a $75 million federal grant the state won last year in a high profile competition and said it was placing it under "high risk" status. That means the state is in danger of losing the money if it doesn't make improvements. |
75% of Worldwide Cellphone Users Send Text Messages [STUDY] (Mashable) Posted: 21 Dec 2011 06:48 AM PST Mashable - Mobile phones are universally popular -- and so is text messaging. Cellphone users in 21 countries were surveyed on their mobile habits and 75% replied they send text messages. A Pew Research Center Global Attitudes Project study, published Tuesday, examined worldwide use of digital communication tools such as mobile and social networks. Not surprisingly, the research found the young and well-educated are the most likely to adopt new technologies. Those under 30 who hold college degrees are most likely to use many mobile functions and social networks. |
