Washington Parties, K Street Pays

Inauguration Day in Washington is really just one big prom, college graduation, and New Year's Eve all rolled into one. The balls, galas, receptions, and cocktail parties go on before, during, and after the president's swearing-in. And as anyone who's ever picked up the tab knows, an open bar ain't cheap.

James Franco Wrote a Pretty Terrible Inauguration Day Poem

After Yahoo! News commissioned him and other "poets" to write poems on the occasion of Inauguration Day, actor/writer/superlative-lover James Franco wrote a little something about how he had no idea what to write about the president, but that he met him once. As expected, nobody likes it all that much. President Obama, if you were wondering, knew Franco from Spider-Man. Here's a sample:

BANJA LUKA (Reuters) - Public sector workers from across Bosnia's Serb Republic went on strike on Monday in the first big protest of 2013 against government spending cuts. Trade unions said teachers, policemen, judicial and tax office workers had walked off the job after the regional government went ahead with a 10 percent pay cut imposed as part of an austerity budget. The government had sought a six-month moratorium on any industrial action and promised to increase public employees' wages in the second half of the year if revenues rose.
