Connecticut school defends keeping girl out over Ebola fears Posted: 29 Oct 2014 01:41 PM PDT By David Ingram (Reuters) - A Connecticut school superintendent on Wednesday defended the decision to keep a 7-year-old girl out of class for three weeks out of concern that the girl might have contracted Ebola while attending a wedding in Nigeria. Elizabeth Feser, superintendent of the Milford public schools, denied allegations that the girl's family made on Tuesday in a federal anti-discrimination lawsuit that asked that she be allowed back into school. ... |
Chicago high school evacuated, nine taken to hospital after gas leak Posted: 29 Oct 2014 10:45 AM PDT CHICAGO (Reuters) - A Chicago high school was evacuated on Wednesday due to a natural gas leak and nine students were taken to local hospitals as a precautionary measure, all in good condition, police said. Harper High School in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side was evacuated shortly after 10 a.m., said Jose Estrada in the Chicago Police Department news affairs office.
