It is also true that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un offered President Donald Trump a lopsided, heavily North Korea-balanced deal—full sanctions relief in exchange for closing one aging nuclear facility—when they met for a second time in February. Trump was right to walk away from the "bad deal" that Kim Jong-un presented to him at the Hanoi summit.But it should be noted that the United States has also offered lopsided deals during negotiations. In the run-up to the first Trump-Kim summit in Singapore last year, Trump administration officials kept insisting that they would only accept the "complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization" (CVID) of the North, and that this was too happen speedily. This insistence continued into the fall of 2018, which is when U.S. officials went to Pyongyang to negotiate. CVID is an enormous demand, effectively asking for unilateral disarmament after the North spent decades developing the deadly weapons. In exchange the United States offered vagaries about a peace treaty or modernization, but it did not offer anything close to the value of the North's nukes.

The new emergency facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, will hold as many as 1,600 teens in a complex that once housed oil field workers on government-leased land near the border, said Mark Weber, a spokesman for Office of Refugee Resettlement. The agency is also weighing using Army and Air Force bases in Georgia, Montana and Oklahoma to house an additional 1,400 kids in the coming weeks, amid the influx of children traveling to the U.S. alone.

The state Department of Environmental Protection rejected permits Wednesday night, including ones for waterfront development and wetlands work. Last month, New York regulators determined the project did not meet their standards, but like this one, their decision was made without prejudice, allowing Williams to reapply.

"Man, British protesters are no joke," Trevor Noah said after sharing some of the most creative large-scale demonstrations with The Daily Show viewers Tuesday night. "Tens of thousands protesting Trump," he continued, "and this was in the rain, which I know to them is a summer day, but that's not the point." The host marveled at the fact that "even conservative people don't like Trump" in Britain, as evidenced by the snub the U.S. president received from May's likely successor, Boris Johnson. "They'll be like, 'There's too many bloody immigrants, it's time to shut down our borders," but if you ask them if they like Trump, they'll respond, "'Oh God no, not him. He's the worst immigrant of all!'" Of course, for Trump, Noah added, "protests are like Eric, he just pretends they don't exist." When asked whether they still believed the PLA could achieve this objective if the U.S. intervened in the conflict, 74 percent said yes.(This first appeared back in 2015.)The numbers were much the same for the South China Sea. When asked whether they believed the PLA could militarily take back disputed islands in the South China Sea, 85.6 percent of respondents said that China's military could achieve this objective.
