(AP) — Authorities say five suburban San Francisco high school students were hospitalized after overdosing on a prescription drug used to treat anxiety, while authorities warn about tainted medication being sold on the streets.

This week, members of a student-run activism group, The Darkening, ramped up "The Real AU," a campaign aimed at spurring the school to counteract comments being posted on Yik Yak, a social media app. AU students have posted comments such as "First you bring Ebola here, then you start riots and destroy our cities.… Go back to Africa" and "If the blacks spent more time fixing their people instead of fixing their hair we wouldn't be in this situation.

Not 15 minutes after the announcement, a cloud of tear gas and a hailstorm of rubber bullets forced the thousands of protesters who had gathered outside Mr. Zuma's office ​in Pretoria's Union Buildings hours earlier to abruptly disperse.

Advances made for women since U.S.-led troops ousted the Islamist Taliban in 2001 are held up as one of the wins of the war, but women are still regularly sidelined from political life and subject to violence in public and at home. Many worry that things could get worse as security deteriorates around the country, a fear buttressed by reports of abuse against women in Kunduz after the Taliban briefly took control of the northern city last month.
