As of right now, same-sex couples can get married in more than 30 states. Transgender high school students in Minnesota can join teams according to their gender identity. Obamacare (and Medicaid in some states) now covers transition-related health care. Transgender government employees are protected from discrimination. Public opinion in favor of same-sex marriage is at around 59 percent. In so many ways, quality of life for LGBT people was on the rise in 2014.
