Kids of Color Are Already Behind on Landing These Future Jobs Posted: 11 May 2015 10:59 AM PDT Anyone with a computer probably knows the legend of Google: A pair of Stanford computer geeks in suburban San Francisco put their heads together and created a company that transformed the California economy and changed the world. How to Prioritize Retirement Versus College Savings Posted: 11 May 2015 06:00 AM PDT Here are some tips for coordinating your retirement and college savings goals. A recent T. "Parents should save for their own retirement first before saving for a kid's college education," says Beth Kobliner, author of "Make Your Kid a Money Genius (Even If You're Not)" and a member of the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. "It is effectively doubling your investment right then and there." In addition to the employer contribution, you will also get a tax break and investment returns on that savings. |

South Africa's Curro raises $62 mln to fund new schools Posted: 11 May 2015 04:51 AM PDT South Africa's private school firm Curro Holding's said on Monday it has raised 740 million rand ($62 million) in a fully-subscribed rights offer to pay for new schools. There has been surging demand for private schools from many middle class parents. Public education in Africa's most advanced economy was ranked among the worst in a survey by the World Economic Forum last year. South African spends more per capita on education than any other African country but its public schools are frequently criticized for poor standards of teaching, lack of equipment and overcrowding, leading to low exam pass rates. |
