(Reuters) - The desperate cry of a mother finding her 17-year-old son dead from a painkiller and another prescription drug instantly silences hundreds of Pennsylvania high school students who listen to her 911 call played at an early morning assembly. "All these kids were around our age, said Michael Senn, an 18-year-old senior at the school Downingtown High School East, after the program. "It felt personal." Senn and his classmates had just sat through a presentation by Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education, or NOPE, one of a handful of prevention programs cropping up around the United States offering high school and middle school students education about prescription opiate painkillers. |
Japan high school girls on mobiles 7 hours a day: survey Posted: 10 Feb 2015 01:38 AM PST High school girls in Japan spend an average of seven hours a day on their mobile phones, a new survey has found, with nearly 10 percent of them putting in at least 15 hours. Boys of the same age average just over four hours mobile phone use a day, the survey by information security firm Digital Arts, published Monday, said. A total 96 percent of Japanese high schoolers have a mobile phone, against 60 percent of junior high school students, Digital Arts said. |
