PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona's new law requiring high school students to pass the U.S. citizenship test in order to graduate appears likely to be adopted in a handful of other states this year, though educators warn it's not a fix-all solution to the nation's dire knowledge of civics.

Will John Boehner regret use of Taylor Swift GIFs?

Representative Boehner – or, let's be honest, some younger Boehner staffers who know more what's up with the kiddies – compiled a bunch of Swiftian clips, Buzzfeed-style, to illustrate what they consider the overreach of Obama's promotion of "free" community college tuition. This is an important difference, says Evelyn Waiwaiole, director of the Center for Community College Student Engagement at the University of Texas--Austin. "The average age at a community college is 28.

By David Schwartz PHOENIX (Reuters) - Arizona's high school students will be required to pass the same civics test that immigrants must pass to gain citizenship, under a first-in-the-nation bill signed into law on Thursday. Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey, who had championed the idea in his state-of-the-state address on Monday, signed the measure only hours after it sailed through the state House and Senate on Thursday.
