Power restored after massive outage hits downtown Detroit Posted: 02 Dec 2014 02:59 PM PST By Serena Maria Daniels DETROIT (Reuters) - A massive outage on Tuesday cut power for as long as six hours to public buildings in Detroit ranging from city hall to a criminal courthouse, scores of public schools and more than three dozen buildings at Wayne State University, officials said. The outage in the city-run system that distributes power to the public buildings was another black eye for Detroit, which won court approval in November to exit the biggest U.S. municipal bankruptcy. ... |

(Reuters) - Five college students accused of gang-raping a female fellow student in a New Jersey dorm room pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, in the latest in a series of sexual assaults and harassment incidents prompting colleges to reexamine conduct policies. The five men blocked a dorm room doorway at William Paterson University in Wayne, and restrained and demanded sex from the woman on Nov. 25, when the campus had largely emptied out for the Thanksgiving break, according to the criminal complaint. ... |

The audit of the New York City Department of Education sampled only nine of more than 1,700 city schools and one administration building, sparking fears that millions of dollars worth of devices are unaccounted for citywide, Comptroller Scott Stringer said in a statement. ... |
